We live on the 7th Floor, with only one elevator servicing the building right now. We love our unit, and don’t really want to move, but climbing up and down 7 flights a day (with two kids!) seems like it warrants some sort of compensation. I've been very actively interviewing and closing in on at least two offers in the next week (hopefully!). Most positions I have been interviewing for will involve a pay cut, ranging from 10% - 50%. 50% is not feasible for my family, but we would be okay with up to about 20%. I have now had three men tell me that my salary shouldn't matter because my husband has a job. These are people I went to for advice, not as part of my interviewing. I'm honestly flabbergasted, because of course it matters, my job is not just for vanity, and I wonder if they would ever say that to another man. I finally pushed back on the person that said it yesterday and he was very surprised I was offended. So frustrating!
